The Flabob Flying Circus Fly-In
The annual Flabob Flying Circus Fly-in was held June 17-19 and a group of us that get together monthly for lunch fly outs decided the would be a good destination for our June gathering.  The airport is tucked into a carve-out of Riverside's Class Delta airspace and both are under Ontario's Class C so getting in there requires good planning. Then to cap off the arrival experience on downwind you find yourself flying right at a rocky hill til you can't stand it anymore and voila a quick left base to final and there it is.  A good size line-up of magnificent men and their two-winged flying machines were there for great photo opportunities including our own Bob Simon and the picture perfect D'Marie Stearman.  Bob brought his grandson along for the day. Other Antiquers included Steve and Stephanie Byers and their two-story Super Cub.  Some other friends joining from San Diego were Emidio Delconte in his Kit Fox, Franck in his Grumman Tiger, Steve in his Bonanza and others.  The PT-22 3-ship flight out of Cable came in and entertained us with multiple passes as did Stearmans, Cessna's, a Storch replica, Cubs and even a low pass on departure by yours truly.  This event is billed as a fly-in and camp out but I didn't see a tent pitched anywhere my guess being the heat and the fact that a lot of us old geezers consider Motel 6 to be camping.
